Your notebook was lost in baggage handling. It will be sold to defray costs...

Yes, apparently this happens. A new web site says it can show you which auction site will probably have your luggage or camera or PC notebook once it is "irretrievably lost" by baggage handling staff at the airport.

With the slogan "Don't get mad - get even!" Airline Complaints will launch July 1st. Here's the official line:

Launching on July 1st 2008 airlinecomplaints.co.uk and airportcomplaints.co.uk will offer UK travellers forums, blogs, advice, and links to places they can get help in dealing with their travel nightmares (like which auction galleries the airlines have sent your bags to when they became permanently lost (yes, this really happens!).

We will also provide compelling, original content; everything from personal stories (“horror travel story of the week”) late breaking news updates on potential travel nightmares; features like, “worst on-time airline of the month,” important updates on which airports/airlines are losing the most bags, whom to contact in government and at the airports and airlines to voice your complaints and dozens more incredibly useful features -- some of them so unforgiving it will put a smile on your face.

London’s airports are amongst the busiest on the planet and running them isn't easy, but we hope you will agree that the recent debacle at Heathrow’s Terminal 5 underscores the need for our site which will be free. The poor service, problems and humiliations we travellers face every day at the hands of ill-managed airports and airlines requires that we band together to fight for the service we deserve – or at least report our extraordinary aggravation. Yes, we are on your side and we feel your pain. And if you find my Tablet, make me an offer?
