Qualcomm vs Broadcom in Court again (ctd p 94)
by Guy J Kewney | posted on 20 March 2008
While puzzled Qualcomm directors scratch baffled heads over "why doesn't anybody love us?" yet another round ends in the Intellectual Property disputes.
The latest is between two of the biggest patent holders in wireless, as an attempt from San Diego (to overturn an injunction) is rejected.
This is a Federal decision, writes Geoff Duncan: "The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in Washington D.C. has let stand a lower court ruling that prevents Qualcomm from selling some of its 3G WCDMA wireless chips in the United States."
Duncan adds: "The original injunction was handed down in early January and bars Qualcomm from selling or supporting wireless phone chips infringe on three Broadcom patents."
Is that the end? No! - Qualcomm has pointed out that "the appeals court granted Qualcomm's motion for an expedited schedule for briefings and oral arguments"... fast forward to the next hearing.
