Nortel pushes CDMA based mobile broadband in Eastern Europe
by Guy J Kewney | posted on 25 March 2008
"CDMA EV-DO Rev A is gaining momentum across Russia and Eastern Europe as operators migrate to faster, more advanced and cost-effective mobile technologies."
The quote is from Sorin Lupu, Nortel president Eastern Europe, announcing a deal with Sky Link Ekaterinburg providing mobile broadband for users in the Ural region of Russia.
The idea is to migrate users from CDMA to "Long Term Evolution" without going through Wideband CDMA, the normal European path.
There's a full press release online at Nortel's web site
