Sniffer's Daddy starts new wireless security company!
by Sniffer | posted on 30 April 2002
The news that there is a specific "wireless aware" network analyser product excited our gossip columnist more than a little bit; AirMagnet was founded by Dean Au, widely credited with being the inventor of Sniffer Pro.
AirMagnet's co-founders, Dean Au, president, Chia-Chee Kuan, CTO and vice president of engineering and Miles Wu, chief architect, "bring a solid grasp of the problems and opportunities inherent in wireless networks," according to the startup company's publicity.
It's all a bit too close to home for our packet-hunter, because Dean Au, in one of his previous existences, not only founded Cinco Networks - which developed NetXRay - but also was responsible for the product architecture which, eventually, became Sniffer Pro Analyser, when the company was taken over.
Anybody who is popping over to next week's Networld+Interop show (Las Vegas Convention Center (Conference: May 5-10, 2002, Exhibition: May 7-9) look out for them, and give Sniffer's best wishes. You might also ask them why they think people who manage networks will be happy with one product that manages the wired LAN, and another - AirMagnet - to do the wireless part - but ask politely, OK?
