Amazing cockup at Newswireless Net!

In his naive enthusiasm for a tiny pocket camera and due to his desire to run a picture of it on any pretext, the Editor of NewsWireless Net has found himself forced to grovel in front of his readers for writing nonsense.

It started off with a news item about the new Logitech digital camera. Sniffer knew it was going to lead to trouble when stray packets appeared suggesting that it would be an excellent idea to imitate one feature of this camera in wireless devices - its ability to charge its batteries from a Universal Serial Bus cable.

Sure enough, within minutes of the story appearing on the site, a reader pointed out that you could get such a device from Teleadapt. So the hapless Editor posted the story -and you'd have thought he'd have learned his lesson about not researching things, by now, wouldn't you? Nope. So within hours, the following response packets were detected:-

From Jonathan Quirk came the terse:

"£20 seems a bit steep when a similar product is available for under a fiver from several different vendors eg ebuyer, mobile fun!"

From: "Peter Carroll"

"Hi Guy,

Read your report on the USB phone chargers. Just to let you know that these have been available from cellsavers and other outlets for some time and for around £4.99 or less. Perhaps you should let your readers know this before they waste money in high street stores."

"I saw your piece, but I've used a dedicated Sony one for the last 9 months and I see that as usual TeleAdapt are probably not first -- or cheapest -- in the multiphone range as this page shows."

Sniffer last saw the Editor poring over a browser, muttering: "How do you spell Google?" or possibly, "boy, I'm a noodle!" and re-fixing his false beard ...
