And what happened to the "Word" package on Nokia's 9210 combined phone and PDA? It's there - a built-in word processor, on the standard 9210 ...
... and if you look at the new 9210i (fuel injected?) you'll find the program is still there, but, somehow, it looks oddly changed.
No, it's not the wonderful speed increase you get from a 40 MHz processor instead of the old 20 MHz chip. Nor is it anything to do with using the latest version of the Symbian OS, either. It's far simpler than that. Haven't you got both next to you? Have a look!
For those of you who are short of a handy 9210 or even a 9210i, the answer is that "Word" on the desktop menu has vanished, to be replaced - presumably, after a couple of tactful phone calls from Microsoft lawyers - by "Word Processor." Expect sales of Nokia's combo computer-phone to boom as people breathe a sigh of relief at not having to wait ten minutes while the software loads, after all ...
