"Improve your UMTS network" theme at Prague show 10-11 March

It's hardly a shock to find that 3G operators are trying to improve efficiency (that is, cut costs!) of their networks, especially as they move to high speed packet data (HSDPA and HSUPA) - because despite the hype and urgency, femtocell solutions aren't here yet.

So at the 3G Optimisation 09 conf next week, the focus is almost entirely on "fine tune the airwaves".

Sessions have titles like "Efficient Optimisation Techniques with Event Based Recordings" and "Improving UMTS Performance Using Ray Tracing Propagation Models and Automatic Cell Planning Tools" and even "Examining HSDPA & HSUPA Performance In A Live Network" with highly technical speakers offering expertise.

Particularly interesting will be the session by Martin Polak, Product Manager - Test & Optimization for Tektronix Communications: "Using Advanced Geo-Localization Techniques to Achieve Superior Performances and Better Business Results" - on the first day at 10 -with details about:

  •  Discovering new available techniques that allow better performances and reduced capital and operational expenditures
  •  How events and issues are automatically mapped onto GIS how this allows immediate actions to increase QoE more efficiently
  •  Understanding how to turn network data into actionable information faster through the use of dashboards and KPI trend analysis
  •  Learn how radio effective optimization can be a significant source of OPEX and CAPEX savings
  • I get the impression there are still seats available. NewsWireless will be covering any news stories from the show.
