April, Walt Disney announced it was going to set up a mobile phone service in the UK. August, Walt Disney announces that it was a silly idea. A family mobile network?
The news will possibly annoy Telefonica, whose O2 subsidiary was planning to carry Disney Mobile in the UK.
“We will continue to evaluate, and we’ll remain set to move as the environment becomes more conducive,” said Disney Mobile U.K. spokeswoman Sandra van Vreedendaal.
She blamed retail changes in the market. Other observers say that quite possibly, bad performance by the Sprint-carried Disney Mobile service in the US played a big part in the idea of dropping the plans...
At least we know what the "MM" in MMO2 used to mean, at last - Mickey Mouse. No wonder they stuck with just the O2...
