Will Japanese prince be texting-mad?

by Sniffer | posted on 04 September 2006

You may not realise this, but the Japanese royal family is expecting a new prince. Or maybe princess... but whatever it is, it seems someone has an inside scoop on its likely habits. It will be a phone phreak.

How does your Sniffer know this? Well, that would be telling. But we can reveal (nobody else is likely to point this out!) that the imminent birth is not only supposed to kick-start a flood of copy-cat pregnancies, leading to a boost in the share prices of toy makers, but also, somehow, it will be significant to mobile phone makers.

A story in the Financial Express reports: "Shares in Japanese baby goods makers climbed ahead of the expected birth of a possible imperial heir, which some hope may lift the country’s slumping birthrate."

So what is this about phones?
