T-Mobile - off for the weekend. Saves cash?

by Sniffer | posted on 25 July 2005

Visitors to the T-Mobile UK web site this weekend, hoping to pay a bill perhaps, or even query some aspect of their operation, went disappointed.

Sniffer

As your Sniffer discovered, the URL www.t-mobile.co.uk re-directed to http://www.t-mobile.co.uk/maintenance.htm where visitors were told:

"The T-Mobile website both for sales and service is temporarily offline while we perform scheduled maintenance tasks; please accept our apologies for this interruption of service, which we will resume as soon as possible."

The Gossip Columnist of NewsWireless is not a vindictive person, and we know T-Mobile is pretty short of ready cash right now (stories of the suspension of free coffee for visitors to the Boreham Wood offices have reached us, amongst other penny-pinching measures) and we decided not to mock T-Mobile for cutting back on weekend working. "The site will be up again come Monday morning," we told ourselves.

This morning, we logged in. Sure enough, all had changed. Oh, the page still re-directed to the maintenance page... but now, even the maintenance page is gone, and we got a "404" error "Page unavailable"

(The Hunky Mouse does not have any T-Mobile shares).

Sniffer does not actually want any T-Mobile shares - You can discuss this article on our discussion board.
