Orange comes clean: "We are launching the Treo 650 after all" - tomorrow.

The smell of political wrangling? Certainly, it will come as a surprise to some at Orange UK - especially those who are on holiday in the PR department, but PalmOne has taken it upon itself to pre-empt the carrier, and that's that.
It seems to have been a surprise to Orange; when I rang, they didn't know that PalmOne was holding the launch in London, and certainly didn't know they were part of it.
A surprise to PalmOne, too; they are organising it. I asked if I was being invited. "Oh. didn't we invite you?"
Hm...
Meanwhile, in the US, PalmOne has launched a Bluetooth headset - its first - to go with the Treo 650 (the first Treo to have Bluetooth) and right on schedule, we have a review.
Well, "review" is what they call it at DVDHardware - but it's going to be hard to quote from it without posting the entire piece. This is the bit that seems to be the review:
"The headset is pricey at $80, but if you've already forked over the cash for the smart phone, you shouldn't feel the pinch too much."
The Treo web site speaks enthusiastically about how the "unique hook-shaped over-ear design" flips smoothly from right to left and can be easily adjusted to fit your ear.
For the help of those who think they may have seen something equally unique in the way of hook-shaped over-ear designs, we include a picture of the Motorola HS820 Bluetooth headset which, as you can see, is hauntingly familiar...
