There will be a demo Mesh network set up in Harrogate on Thursday March 20th, when a Broadband Stakeholders Group seminar will be hosted by Digital Dales.

"It is aimed at industry, government and community network pioneers, and we anticipate a high signal to noise ratio," remarked organiser Joel Smith of Dales IT. "There will be speakers and exhibitors from across the industry."

Star of the show will almost certainly be Jon Anderson and LocustWorld. Anderson is unique in actually shipping a device which will create a wireless mesh.

Jon will be a speaker at the event. Locustworld is also planning to bring up some MeshAPs to create a demo mesh network.

Broadband access will be provided via Aramiska, a Satellite provider, so there will be the opportunity to find out for yourselves the performance of this type of solution. "Don't forget your wireless enabled laptops!" added Joel Smith.

The day will consist of presentations, demonstrations, workshops, Round Table discussion, and networking. The agenda will be shaped by those who attend, but the Round Table discussion is likely to include:

Wireless Commons, use of spectrum, allocation of spectrum and auctions, community networks, policy, regulation and licensing, power restrictions, rural wireless.

Places are limited, and theorganisers are expecting a lot of interest in the event.

The cost is £50 or £35 for non-profits/community organisations (lunch provided). There are still some stands available at £500 for companies wishing to exhibit at the event.
