Flarion sends delegate to Charlotte wireless convention next week

Flarion is one of the high profile corporations sending speakers to the one-day Fall symposium to be held Wednesday, September 15, 2004 at the Doubletree Hotel in Charlottesville, organised by Virginia Piedmont Technology Council (VPTC).

The council announced today that it has a full house of exhibitors for the conference. More than 25 local and national technology firms will be represented at the event which is expected to draw more than 200 attendees from around the state.

According to research firm Yankee Group, there are currently about 695,000 wireless networks operating in the United States with roughly $1.7 billion spent on Wi-Fi equipment in 2003. The small and midsize business market for wireless services is expected to grow 93% in 2004, compared with last year.

"With spending on wireless services among small and midsize businesses growing at an exponential rate, we're very excited to provide a forum on this important technology," said Gail Milligan, Executive Director, VPTC. "It's changing the way we communicate and the way we conduct business."

The VPTC Sept. 15 Wireless Networking Symposium will showcase how real people and organisations are actually using wireless technologies that will drive additional growth in the near future.

Speakers include Bill Clark, formerly of Gartner, who will moderate "Next Generation Mobile Wireless," a discussion of the mobility of networks. Joining him will be representatives from Flarion Technologies, Mobile Computing Corporation, Visual Link, and NTELOS.
