Until the Cable Free Utopia...

Plagued by cables... we all are. Roll on the wireless everything, including power. Till then, however, they tangle up. Here's how to deal with the problem!

1) Create a mountain rescue kit.

Any computer user will know that if you put a power cable, a USB cable and an Ethernet cable on the same surface, and then attempt to pick up any one of the three, they will tangle together, and lock around any other object on that surface. Your kit is a bag with three pockets. One in each pocket. On falling off a cliff, just undo all three, and wait while they snag around your leg and the nearest outcrop.

2) Eliminate car gear levers.

It's that, or cut your head off. Anybody who has ever tried to get in, and then get out of a car while listening to music on a headset, will know that either one, or the other, will have to give. Cut the stick off now, and walk. You'll be glad.

3) Sit at the feet of the guru.
