Testing mobile broadband - part 2

Four different broadband modems to plug into my nice new HP laptop (thanks for the loan, guys) and three or them install-and-run.
Then the O2 one. Plug in, and it refuses to install-and-run until I've disabled user access control.
I think it's time I checked the calendar. Is it still 1984, and I just slept and dreamed the last 25 years? I think it must be 1984 when we all thought viruses were a stupid SF nightmare, but...
