Mobile WiMAX tests in Israel

TeleGeography has forwarded a press release from the Israeli Ministry of Communications (MoC) announcing that MIRS Communications, the Israeli mobile operator, has been granted approval to launch trial WiMAX networks.
The report says:
MIRS will be allowed to launch in two cities, Tel Aviv and Askelon, and it is understood that in the capital, the trial will look at mobile broadband access in urban areas.
In Askelon the focus will be the use of video communication, and the MoC has stipulated that the trials will run for a maximum of one year.According to TeleGeographys GlobalComms database, MIRS Communications is the Integrated Digital Enhanced Network (iDEN) wireless trunking operator business of US vendor Motorola.
