How useful would an iPod be if it had a voice microphone for WiFi calls?

The thing about the iPod Touch is, it's a great WiFi surfer, which means - in theory - that you could do something like Skype on it, or a SIP phone product. Well, that's the theory, but there are snags.

First, is the fact that you'd probably need to "jail-break" your Touch, before you could install the software. That can be done, of course - but some of us are nervous of that. And then, there's the trivial little detail: a microphone. You could hear what they were saying at the other end, but "Hello? Hello? Is anyone there?" wears thin after very few repetitions...

So to make calls on the iPod Touch in Starbucks for no extra charge would actually involve buying a dongle with an extra headset, including mic; downloading some software, and worrying about causing damage to your iPod socket.

The question is: if someone provided all those, would we install it? Personally, I'd like to know; if you drop me a line and say yes, or no; and why? I'd be grateful...
