First Google Android phones to be live on T-Mobile US "by end 2008"?

Flushed with the glory of being named America's best mobile network, T-Mobile has announced that it will have Google phones up and running before year end.
According to Kent German, the company confirmed its February leaks, and Joe Sims, vice president and general manager of T-Mobile USA's Broadband and new Business Division, this week said that he has seen prototypes of an Android handset, and that the first in a series of devices will be available in the final quarter of this year.
The first market will be North America, not Germany - something the company didn't reveal at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

That's a reference to unlocked phones, rather than open source software, but Krazit sees the two trends as related.
