iPhone infection strikes Register reporter: padded cell, please!

He actually paid money for an iPhone! What a shame for a reporter... or some might think so. But there's worse. El Reg's Cade Metz seems to have got the implant, too.

His review lacks any of the scepticism we were expecting from the Vulture Central. He loves the setup, the box it comes in. That's bad enough.

And then this:

YouTube videos look even better on the phone’s 3.5-inch screen than they do on the average PC display. There’s a certain immediacy you don’t get on the desktop.

It's sad. So sad.

I mean, you can cope with gushing about the gesture-driven user interface: "The real revelation is Apple’s stylus-free GUI. The interface is so intuitive - and so responsive - you can do almost anything without a second thought." OK, it's a tad more enthusiastic than most, but not out of the park! - but "YouTube videos look better on the phone than on a PC?"

Pass the sick-bag, Alice. Some people will do anything to get back on Steve Job's press list...
