"Your target is in Braille. Take AIM..."

Good news, everyone: I've got Firsthunkymouse back!

Sniffer

Firsthunkymouse is my AOL Instant Messenger persona. I'd lost the password, and couldn't remember the email address I'd used to register it, which meant I didn't know how to retrieve a new password.

That meant: no FirstHunkyMouse. Ah well. I still have the Yahoo Messenger account for IM, so who cares?

And then, quite by chance this week, I was reading an old, defunct Hotmail account, which Hotmail had deleted (because apparently I never used it - well, how could I? it was cancelled, duh...!) I found a note from AIM offering a software update.

So I downloaded the update, installed it, and it said: "Password?" and I pressed "forgotten password" (as you do) and it took me to a button, which sent me an email, that gave instructions on how to create a new one.

And I did it, and I was able to log in for the first time in two years.

First thing: I get a popup sign saying: "You have one message in your email box" with a link to the mail. Well, you click it don't you? So I did, and found myself looking at a page which shows no mail.

What does it show? Good question! Instead of the mail I supposedly have in my inbox, I find I have an offer of a free AOL mail account. All I have to do is "enter the following numbers into the form, without spaces."

I think I'll just have to live without an AOL email account...
