Wii problems? Nope!- Opera browser picked by Spanish mobile operator Telefonica
by Staff Writer | posted on 15 January 2007
Undeterred by a rather public spat between Opera (web browser) and Nintendo (Wii) about who will carry the can for any problems, Opera Software today announced that Telefónica Móviles de España has selected Opera Mini and Opera Mobile to power the full Internet for its new Web service "Navega".
PR statement: "With Opera, Telefónica's Navega subscribers can access to the full Internet from their mobile phones. The Navega-branded Opera Mini and Opera Mobile Web browsers will launch on Nokia N70, Sony Ericsson K610i, Sony Ericsson Z610i and Sony Ericsson K800, with several more to come."
The spat? - over at Chris Kohler's Game|life blog, reporting from CES, he seems a bit anxious:
"A big part of Opera's CES lineup is their Web browser for Wii. Since the device is in public beta right now, I decided to ask what we might see in the final version that Nintendo will offer this spring. The thing is, Opera reps don't know -- in fact, they say, it's Nintendo who's calling the shots.
Tabbed browsing? "We don't know" said Opera. Launch in US? "We don't..." OK, got the message.
Full release on the Opera web site.
