Make Hi-Speed USB wireless – now- NXP makes it easy to take USB wireless.

by Staff Writer | posted on 25 October 2006

We've just introduced the NXP ISP3582, a native device controller based on Certified Wireless USB technology from the USB-IF. It combines the performance and security of Hi-Speed USB with the convenience of wireless.

With the ISP3582, consumers can easily and wirelessly transfer data-intensive files, including video and high-resolution images, between portable hard-disc drives, printers, scanners, personal media players, digital video cameras, digital still cameras, and mobile phones.

Manufactured in a 90-nm process, the ISP3582 brings together a device controller based on Certified Wireless USB and a highly optimized on-chip WiMedia MAC.

It supports a physical-layer data rate of 480 Mbps and is compatible with processors that have a PIO or SDIO interface. An integrated ARM controller increases system performance by handling some of the software components of Certified Wireless USB software stacks, and includes on-chip RAM and ROM.

The ISP3582 uses a native architecture, so it offers low power and high performance at an optimal cost.

The solution has been tested extensively for interoperability with solutions from Intel, Microsoft, and various PHY manufacturers.
