Orange Selects iAnywhere to Manage Mobile Devices for Business Services Customer Development Team
by Staff Writer | posted on 19 October 2006
Maidenhead, UK, 17th October 2006: Sybase iAnywhere Inc., a subsidiary of Sybase, Inc. (NYSE: SY), today announced that Orange has purchased its Afaria® solution, to manage approximately 400 mobile devices used by Orange's field–based Business Services customer development team. Orange Business Services will use Afaria® to push out company information, case studies, and handset & tariff pricing to its field sales force. Afaria® will replace Orange's current method of burning information onto CDs and distributing them via post. With Afaria® in place, administrators at Orange Business Services will silently and efficiently push out data to the sales force via laptops and handheld devices across the Orange network, without requiring intervention by the users themselves.
"Sybase iAnywhere's Afaria® software will enable us to further improve efficiency and service levels, while maximising the productivity of our workforce," said Clive Richardson, Director of Business Products, Orange Business Services. "We are confident that the iAnywhere® solution will help to fulfil the overriding aim of driving continuously for improvements in service and performance."
"We are delighted that Afaria® has been chosen to be a part of this mobility initiative," said Alison Henderson, Operations Director of iAnywhere EMEA. "Organisations can underestimate the challenge of managing the distribution of software and information to a mobile workforce. Orange recognises the need to control these processes centrally in order to guarantee the integrity of information and software on the mobile device. We look forward to sharing our solution and the expertise we have developed to help companies achieve business breakthroughs at the front lines."
