Milton Keynes becomes "first city with WiMax coverage " -report
by Guy J Kewney | posted on 23 August 2006
According to Reuters, Telecoms firm Pipex "in a joint venture with chip maker Intel is to blanket parts of Milton Keynes with WiMax."
The story defines WiMax as "a medium-range sibling of the popular Wi-Fi technology covering kilometres rather than metres" and suggests that it's an alternative to 3G phone services - without offering a source for this idea
The news item quotes Steven Jewell, head of IT for Milton Keynes, who said: "Milton Keynes will be probably the first place for a major proving roll-out of WiMax in the UK"
Oh, no, it's not
