HBF Group, Inc. and Spatial Data, Inc. Team to Provide Advanced VoIP 9-1-1 Services

Austin, TX April 22, 2005 - HBF Group, Inc., North America’s E9-1-1 technology leader, today announced an agreement with Spatial Data, Inc., the leading provider of GIS (Geographical Information Systems) location based information, to supply VoIP providers a highly reliable 9-1-1 service for their subscribers.
This partnership brings together HBF’s i-911™ VoIP Solution, a 9-1-1 emergency calling service for VoIP offering both callback number and location information and Spatial Data’s PSAP Info, a list and boundary database of Public Safety Answering Points (PSAP) that is well suited to emergency dispatch situations. By combining the capabilities of HBF’s i-911™ and Spatial Data’s PSAP Info, emergency calls over a VoIP network will have the most accurate address validation and PSAP routing information, all in real-time with a web-service interface.
HBF has been deploying 9-1-1 solutions in the United States and Canada since 1985. A key feature of the i-911 VoIP solution is that it can route emergency calls for both the fixed subscriber whose location is constant, and the nomadic subscriber who moves the location of their VoIP device often. With over 7,000 Public Safety Answering Points in the U.S. and thousands of first responders in Canada, having up to date PSAP boundaries and routing information is crucial for the delivery of a VoIP 9-1-1 call, especially for nomadic subscribers. PSAP Info uses jurisdiction-based boundaries that include bodies of water and unpopulated areas versus the street-based boundaries. Spatial Data has established personal relationships with the PSAP community, with daily, direct contact which means daily systematic updates to their data.
“For VoIP Providers who are planning a nationwide rollout, we have teamed to provide a service what no other company can match – VoIP 9-1-1 service with call back number, location information and the most accurate PSAP routing available today”, said Hank Johnson, President of HBF Group, “With VoIP technologies and standards changing at a rapid pace, this union between HBF and Spatial Data also gives us many opportunities for next generation VoIP 9-1-1 solutions as the industry matures.”
“SDI believes that this partnership with HBF will provide the VoIP industry with the strongest, most comprehensive solution possible. We are proud to partner with HBF, the industry’s best known provider of VoIP”, said Richard A. Peters, President of Spatial Data Inc.
