New mini iPAQ proves that size really does matter
LONDON, 1 April 2005 - HP today announced the newest member of the iPAQ family – the windows-based iPAQ Win DUP (Digital Ultra-Portable) A105 Pocket PC. Measuring just 20mm x 20mm, the iPAQ Win DUP A105 is approximately the size of a postage stamp, making it the most portable handheld on the market. And despite its diminutive size, this ground-breaking device sacrifices nothing in either performance or expandability.
With a 10mm x 10mm screen, the Win DUP A105 comes complete with Digital MagnifierTM glass and miniature Bluetooth keyboard, making it equally comfortable in your hand or on your desk. An optional Bluetooth-enabled fingernail docking solution, FinDocTM, is also available, sitting beneath the Win DUP A105 to offer a full range of connectivity options.
The enhanced security features of the HP iPAQ Win DUP A105 mean that only the exact dimensions of the user's finger are recorded by the biometric fingerprint reader. This ensures that sensitive information such as emails, calendar and contacts remain completely confidential.
"We've created not just a handheld but a fingerheld that can finally put an end to the problem of pockets ripping beneath heavy devices, whilst retaining the flexible features and performance that typify the HP iPAQ range," said Alf Porlio, HP Associate Champion of Marketing, Europe.
Capable of resting on an adult finger and weighing just 50 grams, the A105 is truly the ultimate pocket PC. "This new HP iPAQ is a direct result of listening to our corporate customers who want smaller and smaller mobile devices," Porlio added.
As well as the innovative FinDocTM solution which enables the fingerheld to be synched via a Bluetooth connection, the next generation of HP Compaq Business Notebooks will feature a unique synchronisation method. The Win DUP A105 will fit, in its entirety, into a unique port in the rear for the machine. Once in place, the notebook screen will replicate the iPAQ screen giving the user yet another layer of connectivity to the device. It will also allow for seamless and instant synchronisation.(1)
The HP iPAQ Win DUP A105 Pocket PC provides mobile professionals with the flexibility and mobility they need, increasing agility and productivity whilst minimising security concerns.
Additionally, each unit comes with a florescent protective plastic bubble which completely surrounds the device when it is not in use, shielding it from dirt and scratches as well as making it easily locatable in cluttered briefcases or handbags.
Availability and pricing:
The HP iPAQ Win DUP A105 Pocket PC will be available in the UK only on April 1 for the following estimated street prices:
HP iPAQ Win DUP A105 Pocket PC: 366.50 GBP (including digital magnifier and Bluetooth keyboard)
HP Bluetooth FinDoc: 79 GBP
A full range of options and accessories is available, allowing the customer to expand the HP iPAQ Win DUP A105's capabilities and adapt it to the way they want to work or play.
