by Guy Kewney | posted on 01 October 2002
The Bluetooth market has been a minority one. Suddenly, it has reached the sort of levels where one of the world's leading miniature battery makers reckons this could be a bigger market than PC motherboards ...
The result is that the company is looking to European earpiece makers for new sales opportunities, says Xin Feng, who is sales manager of Wuhan Lixing Power Sources Co.,Ltd located in Wuhan, China.
"We are a professional lithium battery manufacturer with 10 years experience in China," says Xin Feng in a note to NewsWireless Net. The company can offer over 100 various kinds of lithium battery products(prismatic, cylindrical like CR123A and ER14505, button type battery like CR2032,LIR2450) and monthly output up to 5-8 million pieces, he reports.
The group claims to be the No.1 lithium coin battery producer in China and perhaps even in Asia. "We export five million PC Lithium Coin batteries a month, supplying most of the Taiwan mainboard manufacturors (Asus,KTS etc) which we think exceeded our Japanese competitors like Panasonic, or Maxell."
Now, the company has developed several models of cells especially designed for wireless headsets.
