Tuesday 14 July 2009 – The Tower of London played host to some of the world’s finest sporting heroes today – Aussie bowling behemoth Glenn McGrath, England cricket ace Matthew Hoggard, legendary goalkeeper Peter Shilton and star of the future, Scottish professional golfer, Callum Macaulay.

These sporting heroes came together to celebrate the launch of every sports fan’s dream gadget – the new Sony Ericsson W995 WalkmanTM phone – which comes with three months free access to Sky Mobile TV exclusively on 3.
A handful of fearless English journalists took on the might of McGrath, facing a barrage of bouncers from the Australian leading wicket taker. Next, attendees were put on the spot and asked to beat the country’s most capped goalkeeper, Peter Shilton. To finish off proceedings, journalists were invited to tee off and perfect their swing, under the watchful eye of professional golfer, Callum Macaulay.
The Sony Ericsson W995 on 3 allows you to watch eight live and made for mobile Sky TV channels wherever and whenever you want. Three months free Sky Mobile TV exclusive to 3 means fans can watch ball-by- ball coverage of major sports events live, as well as all highlights from Sky Sports 1, 2, 3 and Xtra, and stay in the know via Sky Sports News.
Glenn McGrath said: “I’m delighted to be here today - the Sony Ericsson W995 on 3 is a real must for any dedicated cricket fan. To be able to access crucial games via Sky Mobile TV on the go, especially when a tournament like The Ashes is on is invaluable to me.”
Matthew Hoggard added: “It’s great to be here today for the 3 launch of the Sony Ericsson W995 and be pitted against my old sparring partner Glenn McGrath. Sky Mobile TV is perfect for keeping me updated on how much we are beating the Aussies into submission. Seriously speaking though it’s not all about cricket…its cracking phone that keeps me in touch.”
Shot-stopper Shilton said “It goes without saying I love sports – live and on TV – so this phone is a great one for me when I’m out and about…and it’s been good to get in front of goal again and save a few penalty kicks!”
Callum Macaulay added: “To be here with these sporting greats to launch the W995 handset on 3 is an absolute dream come true. It will definitely help in keeping me up to date with all the sporting action when I’m travelling on the European Tour.”
The Sony Ericsson W995 on 3 packs in more kit than just Sky Sports though - if you’re lucky enough to be in the midst of the action, capture the moment with the onboard 8.1 MP camera and share it via social media. And stay entertained during half-time by downloading up to 60 movies on to your handset completely free from PlayNow Movies.
With three months free access to Sky Mobile TV, normally £5 a month, available exclusively on 3, the W995 is the perfect handset for sports fans.

Notes
Glenn McGrath has taken more wickets than any other Australian fast bowler in Test Match history and is currently fourth on the all time wicket list. He has had many milestones throughout his illustrious career including becoming the first Australian bowler to play in 200 One-Day Internationals and the first Australian Fast Bowler to play in 100 Test matches.
Peter Shilton has gained more caps for England than any other player and he was the youngest player to play for Leicester City at the tender age of16 - taking over from the equally legendary Gordon Banks. Throughout his amazing 30 year career he played for 11 English league clubs through which he accumulated a record 1,005 League appearances.
Matthew Hoggard is one of English cricket and English sport’s most successful and popular characters. A true Yorkshire-man “Hoggy” is hard-working, straight-talking with a great sense of humour. Matthew is currently the 7th most successful England bowler of all time and if England choose to pick him again he may well go up the list again. He was ranked the 2nd best bowler in the world for an unbroken 11 month period.
Callum Macaulay rose to prominence after winning the Scottish Amateur Championship. Callum won the 2008 World Amateur Team Championship with Team Scotland. He was the only amateur to gain his European Tour card through Qualifying School in 2008
