A portable hard disk for all machines - reviewed

by Guy Kewney | posted on 11 September 2004

The problem with buying an add-in disk for a notebook is that it has to be an add-out disk. You don't want to make the thing any heavier. So the Wiebetech Combo GB, which does USB and Firewire and USB 2.0 was an obvious "Hm, wonder how that works?" item.

No need to wonder any more: the Gadgeteer has published a full review.

It quotes a price of $289.95 for the 40 Gbyte model reviewed with prices of from $119.95 to $399.95 depending on configuration, with 80 Gb being the top of range.

As their picture shows, it's compact. "The ComboGB is a great storage solution for those of you that want a variety of connection choices and a small compact size. The only thing to consider is that the fact that not all computers may be able to power the drive via USB without the aid of an AC adapter," reports the Editor, Julie Strietelmeier.

More details at Wiebetech's web site.
