Counting "Followers" - a sure sign of self-obsession

Well, yes; I do have a Twitter account (gkewney, since you ask) and possibly, I have a Follower who isn't a personal friend. But why on earth would you go around boasting of having a million Followers?
The stage, they say, is set for Kutcher to hit the million-twit mark today (Australian web media are already saying he's there) - and the excitement! Meeja frenzy! Shock, horror! Headline hysteria!
Frankly, counting Followers is a bit like measuring your erection. You don't want to do it in public...
