MWC: the crowds stay away from Barcelona
by Sniffer | posted on 16 February 2009
The good news from Mobile World Congress: there's hot water to make tea in the Press lounge. Er... that's it. The normal queues and crush of the GSMA's main annual thrash? Gone.
I got to the Fira at 9 AM, and looked for the queues at the entrance. None. I strolled in to the Press centre, knowing full well that first thing, first day, I would have to fight to get online. It's a zoo, every year... but not this year. Same space as 2008, half the terminals empty.
Rang the Boss. "It's half full," I said to him. "Oh, no, it isn't," he said.
Wait till he gets in. He'll be shocked
