Another BT-killer break-in hits London ISPs - staff try to get new Cisco routers

A lot of people "fell off" the Internet last night in London. Apparently, yet another Cisco-selling crook has broken into yet another BT exchange, this time in Stepney, East London. "Most ISPs providing 21CN services out of Docklands are affected," said a source this afternoon.
BT has issued a press release confirming the break-in, and saying very little else. But the question of "when will it be fixed?" is taking a back seat right now, as affected ISPs start to ask the more pointed question: "How on earth could BT have a single point of failure for its twenty-first century network in the capital city?"
One ISP contacted by NewsWireless said: "It does raise serious issues about BT's approach to security, if people can so easily get into critical exchanges, never mind their ability to steal equipment out of them."
