MobileMe postpones money for yet another two months

Apple has added 60 days onto the end of every MobileMe subscription, in another attempt to pacify punters still unhappy with the online synchronisation service.

This latest offering is in addition to the free month all users received when the system first failed, and the month given away to those Apple accidentally charged for their free trial. So anyone still persisting with the free trial will now be getting 180 days of free usage - almost six months' worth.

That's assuming that Apple doesn't screw things up any more, resulting in yet more extensions to the trial.

Steve Jobs has admitted the company tried to do too much at the launch of MobileMe, and tasked one of his minions to report every other day on the status of the service. Those updates only lasted six days, three updates in all, before falling silent for a couple of weeks and yesterday being suspended: presumably the great man's attention is now elsewhere.

The Reg mailbox isn't overflowing with complaints about the service, as it has been for the last few months, so we can only assume that things are improving over at MobileMe - either that or things are so bad that even email isn't working any more.
