A Bluetooth headset which doesn't clip to your ear from Tritton

The headline feature of Tritton's new AX BlueStream headset is "quality audio" but the most unusual feature of it is that you actually clip the Bluetooth receiver itself to your collar - not to your ear. And then, you can plug in your own favourite earpiece.

Today's announcement is that the clip-on headset is being released into the UK market. According to the announcement, it "has been designed for music lovers who want a discrete device but don't want to compromise on sound quality when listening to music."

One revolutionary feature is the inclusion of your own output device; the Tritton has an industry standard 3.5mm jack. Comments have already suggested that this defeats the purpose of Bluetooth - to get rid of wires - which makes one wonder whether the reviewers have ever actually tried getting into, or out of, a car with a standard phone connected by standard headsets.

What the device actually does, is to ensure that you don't anchor yourself to snags by the headset cables.

The phone can be taken out, or put back into a pocket, without worrying about what you just wrapped the wires around. They stay neatly tucked away under your collar. And the Bluetooth headset isn't hanging on your ear; it's clipped firmly to that collar so that if you do get bumped, it won't fall into the street.

As to how high quality the audio is, will have to wait for a test run. We've put in our request for a trial.
