DELRAY BEACH, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--On May 1, 2007, The City Commission of Delray Beach, Florida, unanimously awarded their city-wide wireless contract to Delray Beach Wi-Fi, LLC, (an ATCI subsidiary). Under terms of the agreement, e-Path will fund an estimated $5.5 million to ATCI for the design, engineering, installation and maintenance of a Cisco wireless citywide network.
* Phase One will include the Atlantic Avenue corridor, from the Atlantic Ocean in the east to I-95 to the west, and three blocks north and south. The Phase One area will provide free outdoor service for users, up to four hours in a 24-hour period.
* Phase Two will include the rest of the city east of I-95.
* Phase Three will include the remainder of the city west of I-95.
Delray Beach is one of the most technologically advanced and respected cities in the nation and winner of the Digital Cities Award two years running (2005 and 2006). The City has also won the 2006 Leadership Award.
Vincent Vento, CEO of ATCI, stated that “Delray Beach will be the poster child for Wi-Fi deployments in the country. This project will add to our extensive wireless projects throughout the U.S., Central America, and soon, South America.”
“We’re excited to enter the Wi-Fi market in a high-profile city like Delray Beach. Our business model is unique among the few Florida cities exploring Wi-Fi deployments,” said Joseph Tortoretti, President and CEO of e-Path Communications. His company is funding the installation of the network and will recoup its investment by selling high-speed Internet access to residents and businesses at prices that will be competitive with other high-speed providers. “The value-added in all this is that users of Delray Beach Wi-Fi will be supporting local efforts to close the digital divide, which benefits the whole community,” added Mr. Tortoretti.
ATC International Inc. is widely recognized as an innovative leader in wireless technology, with multiple deployments under Department of Homeland Security funding for interoperability of State and Local governments. ATCI specializes in security, voice, data, and video analytics, as well as cutting edge RFID tracking, wired and wireless networks, and the software needed to make them work. ATCI’s market focus is divided between homeland defense solutions and technology solutions for Fortune 1000 companies, and state and local governments, here and abroad. Geographically focused on the U.S. and Latin America markets, through its multiple offices and highly skilled engineers and staff, ATCI is a leading force in technology and security deployments.
e-Path Communications Inc.
is a developmental-stage mobile Wireless Internet Service Provider (“WISP”), providing regional Wireless Broadband (“WBB”), high speed public Internet access, Voice Over Internet Protocol (“VOIP”), Local and Long Distance Telephone Service, IP Mobile, Cellular and Enhanced Data Centric, value-added, fully-managed services to residents, visitors, occasional users, municipal governments and business customers in densely populated, and selected Tier Two and Tier Three metropolitan markets. e-Path is a facilities-based “carrier class” communication company that owns, develops and builds (in partnership with municipalities) Next Generation Municipal Wireless City-Wide Networks, with networks “Built for Mobility” -- providing Anytime, Anywhere high-speed, fully-mobile Broadband Internet Access to customers.
