Swap pix with other Sony digicam users? - with wireless!

by Tony Smith | posted on 09 March 2007

Sony has brought the wonder of wireless to its Cyber-shot digital camera family. This week it showed off the six-megapixel DSC-G1 with built-in 802.11b/g Wi-Fi.

The other features are impressive too: 3.5in LCD, 2GB of on-board memory, Zeiss 3x optical zoom lens, anti-blur technology, ISO 1000 sensitivity and a new shooting mode for twilight - perfect, apparently, for those romantic holiday sunset snaps.
All this in a silvery metallic casing that slides open sideways to reveal the optics and, round the back, the photography controls.

G1s can talk to each other by WiFi, allowing users to share shots with each other. One camera can even display and store pictures another one is taking. Sony said the G1 is compatible with the DNLA (Digital Living Network Alliance) protocol to allow the camera to talk to wireless TVs and other display devices.

The G1 will be available to buy next month. If you can't wait, you can get your order in straight away at Sony's website
