3GSM - Navigate your way to Smart2Go free download site, courtesy Nokia. Oh, and beta...

Call off the search - Nokia's free Smart2Go route-planning software has arrived at last at its intended destination: the company's Smart2Go website, where it's now available to download.
Nokia announced last week the software would be available as a free download this past weekend. However, as The Register reported yesterday, the application failed to show up on the appointed date and still hadn't arrived - much less called to say it was safe and on its way - as of yesterday evening.
Fortunately, though delayed, the software seems unruffled by its breakdown on the M4/being caught in a snowstorm/punctured tyre/vehicle theft/nondescript ordeal (delete as applicable). However, it transpires that the code being offered by Nokia is merely a beta release, with the developer sternly warning: "In case you decide to install this beta release of smart2go on your device, please note that this may result in damage to the software and/or hardware of your device, data loss or other malfunction."
Versions are available not only for Nokia's own E61, E70, N73, N80 and N90 handsets, but also a variety of HTC-made Windows Mobile 5 devices, including kit that shipped under the Dopod, O2, Qtek, T-Mobile and Vodafone brands. There's also something called the Palm 650w, which we assume really means the 700w.
The Symbian versions weigh in at around 3.44MB, the Windows incarnations at 5.14MB. We haven't tried any of them - we don't have suitable devices to hand. Register Hardware readers are welcome to let us know how it was for them.
