Wireless hacking: attack is the best form of defence
by Guy J Kewney | posted on 05 June 2006
Here's how to hack a wireless network. Here's how to use NetStumbler, Kismet, Airsnort, Cowpatty, ASLeap and other publicly available hacking tools like Ethereal - all with links, and instructions on use, provided by an ethical hacker for your education.
The logic is simple: if you know what hackers can do, you're in with a chance of defending your own wireless network from them.
As author Daniel Hoffman summarises: "Anyone interested in gaining a deeper knowledge of wireless security and exploiting vulnerabilities will need a good set of base tools with which to work. Fortunately, there are an abundance of free tools available on the Internet. This list is not meant to be comprehensive in nature but rather to provide some general guidance on recommended tools to build your toolkit."
