PR - Aruba Networks moves into the number two position for next-generation centralised enterprise wireless networks

Aruba Networks, the Mobile Edge Company, today announced the industry's highest quarterly revenue growth in the next-generation centrally managed enterprise Wireless LAN (WLAN) market, overtaking Symbol for the number two position in third-quarter revenue-based market share. According to research just released by industry analyst firms Dell'Oro Group and Synergy Research Group, in the third quarter, WLAN leader Aruba grew more rapidly than the centralised WLAN segment as a whole and faster than any other vendor.

Both analyst firms show demonstrably significant quarterly growth for Aruba.  During the third quarter of 2005, Aruba accounted for 21 percent of worldwide revenue for WLAN controllers and dependent 802.11 a/b/g Access Points (APs), according to Dell'Oro Group. Additionally, according to Synergy Research Group, Aruba demonstrated the highest quarter-over-quarter growth for the worldwide enterprise WLAN market at 20 percent.

"Aruba's technology is positioned at the intersection of three major markets - mobility, security and convergence," said Don LeBeau, CEO of Aruba Networks. "This unique position has allowed us to solve real problems with a differentiated overlay architecture that protects investments in existing network infrastructure. Enterprises clearly like this idea as evidenced by our market share gains. We now have over 1,000 major enterprise customers that have adopted the Aruba solution, and the rate of adoption is continuing to accelerate each quarter."

Aruba Networks pioneered the concept of centralised WLANs, allowing all wireless access, security and mobility services to be managed from a single location rather than having to manage each AP independently. Dependent, or thin, APs are now used for nearly all medium- and large-scale wireless enterprise networks because of their increased ease of implementation and management, as well as stronger security.

"The enterprise WLAN market had a strong third quarter, growing to $249 million, and we expect the ramp to continue," said Greg Collins, senior director of wireless LAN research at Dell'Oro Group. According to Dell'Oro Group research, Aruba Networks' growth outpaced the market as evidenced by their move into the second slot for market share based on revenue from WLAN controllers and dependent multimode APs.

"We are seeing substantial growth and an accelerating adoption rate for centralised wireless LAN equipment," said Aaron Vance, senior analyst at Synergy Research Group. "Aruba's quarter-over-quarter growth was stronger than any other vendor and, impressively, five times greater than the market share leader."

Aruba Networks recently announced its Mobile Edge architecture, building on the centralised WLAN concept and allowing easier extensions to enterprise WLANs using remote APs. At the same time, Aruba introduced new products, further expanding the breadth of the company's product line and positioning it for even greater growth.
