Latin America (Uruguay) sticks 3G toe into the ether with WCDMA
by Staff Writer | posted on 01 August 2005
Apparently learning nothing from the troubles of 3G operators elsewhere in the world, ANTEL, or the Administración Nacional de Telecomunicaciones is installing wide-band CDMA technology, and has placed the first 3G phone call in South America.
The infrastructure will use Huawei technology, according to the 3G news portal 3G.co.uk.
The full press release is available on the Huawei site, but even though the 3G news site simply repeats the release, it's probably better to read it there, because the Who Are We site couldn't run much slower if it were suffering a DDOS and using a modem bank to connect.
