Wiki moves into hand-held, with Palm version from Pitecan
by Guy Kewney | posted on 20 July 2005
When Palm devices all have good (cheap!) connectivity, the pocket Wiki will be a great idea. It could be pretty good, anyway, for ending arguments in pubs, perhaps? But it looks even better for expanding lunchtime appointments.
The idea is you create background data for short entries in todo lists or other Palm apps, and the Wiki tags them, and a tap links you to the expanded information. "Lunch, Fred?" expands to the full list showing where you're going, perhaps.
The software was picked up at AllAboutPalm, who described it as "worth a spin" and it's definitely on our "must install" list for when we get our Treo 650.
"When you tap a keyword string in a text field of any application, the system jumps to the 'memo' application and displays the memo data which has the keyword string at the top. If such a data does not exist, new memo data is automatically created," explains the product note.
