Pulselink to cancel its "third standard" for ultra-wide band at Computex?

Computex, normally a haven for PCs rather than wireless devices, looks like having a couple of surprises for the Bluetooth world this week, with strong rumours that the Third Man of UWB - Pulselink - is about to pull out.

There is also supposed to be a move by Artimi to announce a single-chip UWB device, working silicon being on display - but the promised press release remains hidden.

The Pulselink proposal originally involved using its own proprietary UWB over fibre technology as a way of piping TV signals around a home, and using the same silicon to drive UWB wireless. That silicon was actually demonstrated, said the company, at various conferences last year - but it had a problem: it was in neither the Intel, nor the Motorola camp as a candidate for the IEEE standard.

Sources close to Artimi say they have been showing their new chip and claiming it is a pulsed version of the standard, with a range of 10m.
