New Wimax show precedes Wireless Lan Event, London April
by Guy Kewney | posted on 25 January 2005
This year, the Wireless LAN Event will be a sort of postscript to another wireless conference: the WiMAX and Wireless Broadband Access Conference, both in the Olympia exhibition areas, in April.
The organisers have decided to make April 19th the WiMAX day, and then "Europe's biggest public WiFi conference" will follow hard on its heels - same venue, on 20-21 April.
the new WiMAX and Wireless Broadband Access Conference is described as a "separately-bookable one-day conference" - and it features "pre-WiMAX deployment case studies, regulatory and market analysis and technology comparisons."
Operator case studies include Telabria, Libera, COLT Telecom, MCom, T-Mobile, Aloha Partners, TowerStream and iCommerce.
Special offer: "If you book all three days before 28 February 2005, you will save £395 on the conference fees. Just scroll down past the public WiFi conference programme, to see the WiMAX programme."
For the main event, keynote and special guest speakers include:
Dan Lowden, VP Marketing of Wayport,
Other speakers include "over 50 top-level executives from major players including T-Mobile, O2, The Cloud, KPN Mobile, Broadreach Networks, Starwood, Concourse Communications, Vonage, StarHub and Intel.
Conference themes will be usability and profitability. Organiser Piers Bearne said: "We've lined up case studies of the first integrated WiFi/3G/GPRS rollouts from across Europe. Guest speaker Alan South will share some hard-hitting thoughts from outside the WiFi industry on the user interface and user experience. And to help you crack the challenge of total coverage for your customers, we've brought in expertise on new venues (hotels, railways, airports) and global roaming."
Profitability? "VoIP and video over wireless applications are fantastic opportunities. So are secure enterprise-grade services. So is WiMAX. We have it all covered," says Bearne.
