Remember the Scott eVest? - a jacket to carry phone, PDA, batteries, and everything else a mobile data user might want?

Well, anybody who is going to be in Orlando this week can see one. It's at the Wireless Lifestyle convention, organised by the Cellular Telecommunications & Internet Association (CTIA). We mentioned this back during the CES, remember?

The CTIA has invited SCOTT eVEST to be featured in their Fashion in Motion Show at CTIA WIRELESS 2002 in Orlando, Florida, from March 18 to 20. "CTIA's high-energy Fashion In Motion event is the premier showcase for wearable wireless and Internet technology" says the announcement.

The event is a professionally produced runway show, featuring professional models wearing currently available wireless wearables, wireless technology still in development, and the latest high fashion accessories from today's leading designers (it says here, honestly!)

The blurb continues: "The gadgets and gizmos once only used by the Jetsons, are now all around us - in our clothes, in our cars, in our hospitals and in our homeland defenses."

It gets sillier: "Wireless technology is making us healthier and safer, but how? The Wireless Lifestyles Showcase lets you touch and feel the newest and most innovative products in a range of industries, at the world's largest wireless trade show, CTIA WIRELESS."

Products on display will include:

* Fashion. A professionally-produced runway show three times daily, with real models showing off today's wireless trends in clothing and accessories. Featuring everything from purses designed for wireless products, to electronic eyewear that connects to the Internet, to computerized footwear.

* The Phrasealator. Already testing in Afghanistan, this handheld, wireless device instantly translates over 1000 phrases into languages such as Pashtu, Dari, Urdu and Arabic.

* The Smart Shirt. This incredible medical device looks just like a T-shirt, but is wired to read the wearer's vital signs. Heart rate, breathing patterns and other important data can then be sent wirelessly to the hospital or a doctor's handheld device.

* Telematics. Sit in a full-size Acura, equipped with all the latest wireless gadgetry for mapping, concierge service and collision alert/avoidance systems.

* Business. Try on a wearable computer, which allows your staff to monitor meetings and give you information through a hidden microphone earpiece.

Look, I'm not making this up! It's part of their pre-show publicity. You can say what you like about "microphone earpieces" and "doctors' hand-held devices" and I'll agree, but it's what they're offering, OK?

And it's an excellent excuse to spend a week in Orlando. Just don't let's have any more nonsense about this site being boring, high-tech, OK?
