"Half the size of competing technologies" says M-Systems as it launches a new range of flash memory storage chips with capacities up to 64 megabytes, and targets the mobile/wireless product builder.
The Mobile DiskOnChip family is available today in 16MB, with a 32MB version coming onto the market next month in mass production quantities. A 64MB "disk" capacity version will ship in October, says M-Systems.
"It is the smallest flash disk family available today with each product's footprint measuring 9x12mm, allowing each product to be interchangeable," says the company.
Full details from M-Systems Web site.
"Wireless handset and PDA manufacturers have greater flexibility to choose from a whole family of flash disk products with varying capacity to cater to their application needs," said Efrat Ramati, M-Systems' Director of Mobile DiskOnChip. "Mobile DiskOnChip easily integrates into any chipset and platform, offers an easy upgrade path and fast time to market."
