Over a thousand unhappy iPaq users sign petition

Following the NewsWireless Net's story about widespread unhappiness with the new HP and its support for iPaq, the organisers of the iPaq petition have told us that the resulting publicity has pushed signatory numbers well over 1,000 names.
Petition organiser Jeffrey Brent Swerdlow told NewsWireless Net that his pressure group is now being heard inside HP in the US, and that a "critical resolution group" was being asked to respond.
"As a direct result of your story, participation in the petition has gone WAY up. As of today, we have over 1100 signatures on the petition, which is pretty good considering it only went live 6 days ago," he told us Saturday.
Individual consumer users are not the only ones signing the petition, he added. "Several small and medium sized companies have expressed their desire to sign the petition for each iPAQ deployed through their organization."
The goal of www.ipaqpetition.com is "to alert the senior management at HP/Compaq to the myriad of problems many users are having with these devices in the hope that they will fix them, says Brent Swerdlow.
The petition has issued a press release announcing the response to the NewsWireless Net story, and asking: "Please help us support the iPAQ owners who have been sold defective devices by releasing this information. We welcome media inquiries to contact us by e-mail at comments@ipaqpetition.com.
