NEC was showing its "first dual 2G, 3G cellphone" here in Cannes this week. The phone is hardly a surprise; what was a bit surprising was the promise that the handset will be on sale in the UK soon. |

Hutchison "3" will be launching the NEC e606 in March, staff on the 3GSM booth promised.
That means, almost certainly, a CeBIT launch, say observers here.
Nobody on the booth would comment on probable pricing, and no distributor is yet admitting to have secured stocks. But there was a working model of the phone - to be played with, not just admired - on the NEC booth, together with the absurd e808 PDA/phone which will also ship around the same time.
