Ham radio: the difference between HomePlug and ComTrend.

We reported problems with ComTrend "mains Internet" devices in the home, and asked whether amateur radio might be an obsolete sport, like Fives. Good response, thanks to all readers! - but in particular, this from Scott Willy on our board:

Many years ago HomePlug worked with the amateur radio community (specifically the ARRL) to ensure that the HomePlug power line technology minimizes instances of harmful interference to licensed amateur radio operators.
