Morgan - used computer company - "suspended" - Google

by Guy J Kewney | posted on 20 July 2009

First thing Monday morning, you wouldn't want to find your company marked as "suspended" by Google. In particular, you wouldn't to find this information as the first "hit" on a Google search for Morgan Computers.

Nonetheless, the famous supplier of refurbished machines finds itself with a long and complex URL as the week starts; and the significant phrase will be "suspendedMerchant.aspx" followed by "?programmeID=54&merchantID=9&affiliateID=28766&tracking=".

The mystery, of course, isn't just "Why is Morgan suspended?" but "Why is Google telling the world about it, and putting the link up in the first place, and then diverting us to a page which specifically says that you can't get to Morgan from Google's merchant programme?"

What you actually get is "This web site is no longer available through this link. Please choose an alternative web site from the list shown below..." followed by advertisements for Oyyy.co.uk and Micro Direct and PC World Business

Not what Morgan probably expected when they signed up for the Merchant Programme!

Meanwhile, the normal Morgan web site is still up.

And if you're looking for used and refurbished hardware, you can save yourself the effort of surfing to PC World. There are more used netbooks on Amazon, than through the Dixons sister company...
