Public WLAN 2004 - two weeks away in London

Public WLAN 2004 - a celebration of WiFi hotspots, it would appear. "With the number of hotspots expected to grow to over 200,000 by 2009, WLAN has undoubtedly become a significant part of the wireless offer."

The show runs over two days, 20th to 21st October 2004 at the Hilton Kensington Hotel.

The organisers say: "All players in the wireless industry have moved to get their share of the new revenue-generating services, and you must ensure you capture your share too."

This "unique industry conference" - which is, of course, just one of dozens about hot-spots in the next three months - "will give you the opportunity to meet senior executives of all major players involved in the Public WLAN market," say the organisers.

"Over the two days you will be able to learn and share experience on how to turn this technology into profit and know what the big players are planning."

Just one caveat: make sure you look up the hotel before setting out. There are far too many Hiltons in Kensington these days, and this should be the Shepherd's Bush Hilton, because it's bang on the Shepherd's Bush roundabout. Not to be confused with the Olympia Hilton, or you're in for a tedious walk, or a short but reassuringly expensive cab ride.
